Katherine Sharpless is a scenic designer based in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended Carnegie Mellon University and graduated with honors with a BFA in Drama and a minor in Art History. She won the Oren and Teschie Parker Award for Excellence in Design and Production and the West Coast Drama Alumni Award for her graduating class and participated in the USITT Emerging Creators forum.
During her time there, she designed Into the Woods directed by Matthew Gardiner and Marisol directed by Owen Stone, and spent her summers assisting at the National Theatre (London), Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Chautauqua Theater Company.
She has also worked as a scenic artist, fine artist, props artisan, and with short films and museums. She aspires to create work for beautiful and life affirming stories and to promote environmental practices in the arts.
